Go Green with your Flowers

As part of the wedding and reception, most couples spend a fair amount on flowers. No doubt these beautiful creations of nature can dramatically change the look and feel of any church or reception hall. But once the festivities are over, what do you do with all of them?

One fun idea is to have someone in advance tape a ‘winners’ notice under the chair and once all the guests are seated, announce that the card is tapped to the bottom of one of the chairs at each table. The person seated in the lucky chair ‘wins’ the centerpiece. This provides a lot of fun and gives some of your guests an added gift from you.

But perhaps that is not your style. And even if it is, there are other flowers from the church and at the cake table and other places that aren’t so easily raffled off. Fortunately there are non profit services in many cities that will stop by after the wedding and reception and take the flowers and then reassemble them for hospitals and nursing homes. That’s a wonderful way to spread your joy to others who could really need a bright spot in their day.

Whatever you do, try not to just have all those beautiful flowers thrown in the trash.
